Installing Child Theme

What is a Child Theme?

A child theme is a separate theme that inherits all the functionality and styling of the parent theme (Briotech). Using a child theme is highly recommended because:

  • Protects Your Customizations: Your custom code won't be lost when the parent theme updates
  • Safe Updates: You can update the parent theme without losing your modifications
  • Best Practice: This is the recommended way to customize WordPress themes

How to Install the Child Theme:

The child theme is included in your theme package. Here's how to install it:

Step 1: Extract your theme package and locate the briotech-child.zip file

Step 2: Go to your WordPress dashboard and click on Appearance > Themes

Step 3: Click on Add New button at the top of the page

Step 4: Click on Upload Theme button

Step 5: Click Choose File and select the briotech-child.zip file from your computer

Step 6: Click the Install Now button and wait for the installation to complete

Step 7: After installation, click the Activate button to activate the child theme

Important Notes:

  • The child theme requires the parent theme (Briotech) to be installed first
  • Once activated, the child theme will use all features from the parent theme
  • You can now safely customize the child theme without worrying about updates
  • All your customizations should be made in the child theme files

That's it! Your child theme is now installed and active. You can start customizing it without worrying about losing your changes when the parent theme updates.
